Plans are that Spirit Connections, Inc - DBA Local Applause will continue to grow a solid long lasting organization that infiltrates not only the lives of women, but will also gain additional strength in Jacksonville, Florida and surrounding areas for the community at large. We are already a deeply rooted presence for many people that live in each community we touch. As we go forward, we will recognize, appreciate, support, encourage, applaud, and celebrate those who are doing the "ordinary and extraordinary things." We know our efforts will build upon the already solid foundation of our members who do so much to spread the word and influence all whom they touch. We know that when we all create more positive change, more "feel good" days and more success long term, we can ultimately create a world of peace and harmony for our children and ALL people on this globe.
We look forward and are excited to bring together one million members worldwide, setting up a strong online community that allows communication easily and efficiently between Local Areas and the World. Of course, we will be having fun in our work and our play, celebrating life daily all of our successes while getting to know more about ourselves and each other.

Journey to a Life of Celebration, by Sheryl Lynn
My personal journey has involved some pretty daunting obstacles along a steep learning curve, but I eventually emerged as a woman who knows her own power and has learned to love herself and the world. Like so many women, I always looked outside myself for life’s big answers to the hard questions, and I never found them. When I finally learned that the truth about my life and my Self lies within me, I began to “stand in my power.” It became my goal, then, to help every woman I come to know to stand in her power too.
A few years ago, I had the privilege of entering into life coaching with the expert, Dale Beaman. As she guided me on the journey from my current state of mind into my future, Dale provided for me an experience I will never forget. She led me down a long hall, into an auditorium. There, in that space, were hundreds of women who I had been able to help “cross the bridge” to achieve a goal or overcome an obstacle.
On that special night, I was honored with the Radiant Love Award, and I determined that I would find a way to recognize and honor other women who, like me, were just doing what it means to be a woman. The women in that audience were, after all, no different from me. Together we were all inspired and confident. We had all reached out to bring others into the light.
I am happy to be a woman at this exciting time for all women, and I am convinced of the potential women have to make the world a better place. That is why I, along with my wonderful partner, Michael Robinson, founded Local Applause.
Our Local Applause history is short and amazing. In January, 2004, I began hosting evening events for the celebration of women. It became clear to me based on the comments that I heard that it was difficult for women to find the time to celebrate. The evening events we hosted were fun but I knew so many women were missing out. Maybe they didn't know how or where to go or when – or maybe they didn't even realize the importance of celebrating.
Four months later I decided to try midday lunches instead. That seemed like a good way to meet like-minded people. I invited ten people; five of us were in attendance: a mother-daughter team of realtors, a writer, my part-time secretary Angela, and me. I supposed everyone else was “busy,” which didn't surprise me. I was new to the community, after all, and didn't know a lot of people, and they didn't know me. Our small group had a fun lunch, though. I asked them to tell about themselves, their work, their dreams. We talked about the future and our goals. We laughed a lot (it was very informal), and I felt encouraged as I walked away from that first lunch. I had bravely led the group’s discussion, with my heart in my throat, wondering what on earth I thought I was doing and where I thought this all might lead.
I had another luncheon, this time for only three people. But ten came to the next one, and then 15 and then 20 and up to 31!
On December 30, 2005, we had moved to our third lunchtime meeting place, Carrabba’s Italian Grill in St. Augustine. Now we had 70 people in attendance, mostly women, and we stood outside the restaurant at the end of a successful year of lunches and events, joining hands to embrace the site of our success! Women Celebrations was fully established and recognized in St. Augustine.
Since then TLAN has been feverishly working bringing together enthusiastic members, professional staff, and strong leadership within the organization.
And so we have compiled the wisdom of our successes and mistakes, along with the philosophy, policies and procedures that have emerged, and put them into this website and into the hands of our leadership. Our purpose is to provide one consistent message that clearly articulates the goals of Local Applause and the guidelines to achieving them in any community - simply this...focus on MORE SUCCESS in your lives and you will achieve MORE FREEDOM to do the things you love to do every single moment of your life.
