A Meditation Tip by Sheryl Lynn
I asked a room full of people recently, "HOW MANY OF YOU MEDITATE?"
The answer? THREE! Knowing myself how very powerful meditation has been in my life for the past couple of years, I want to scream from the mountain tops to get everyone to just take 10 20 minutes EVERY DAY for themselves. It brings such joy and so many blessings that you will be amazed.
First let me tell you what MEDITATE means. The dictionary tells us it is to empty the mind of thoughts, or concentrate the mind on one thing, in order to aid mental or spiritual development, contemplation, or relaxation. This is perfect and so needed by everyone in the world. When I say to people how are you? They typically take a deep breath and scratch their head and say, "BUSY!" When we don't stop and let the universe put in NEW stuff, when we are moving and running around all day being BUSY, we only get more of the same.
A associate asked me, "Does the one minute before I fall asleep at night count for meditation?" The answer to that question is NO SILLY- one minute before "beddie bye" does NOT cut it. We should be meditating at least 8 to 20 minutes everyday.
I meditate by sitting quietly, saying nothing while focusing on great universal energy coming in to the top of my head from the heavens, stars and planets. I allow the healing energies of strength, wisdom and beauty to wash over me and through me. I ASK for for nothing. When I meditate I lay down or just sit and breathe and allow what is. I do it everyday, everyday, everyday! Did I say meditate EVERYDAY?
Meditating is just like eating healthy and getting exercise, a little every day adds up to great success. Ultimately as you sit and allow - clearing your mind of all the BUSY, only then will more greatness come to you. You won’t need to be surprised when wonderful things began happening because you have set up the plan of being quiet and allowing the blessings to come to you. YOU already did the work. Enjoy the fact that the calm, peaceful, relaxing, breathing, sun bathing, smiling behavior gets you more of the same.
Consider that if you just take a few minutes everyday for yourself you are doing the world around you a huge favor. YOU CANNOT be your best unless you take care of yourself. You cannot live your passions if you are not quiet long enough to hear what they are. You cannot be the best mom, dad, spouse, child, mentor if you don't STOP to allow NEW ideas to enter your being. You cannot feel the most joy and happiness unless you can feel renewed energy come into your system.
Meditation is simply STOPPING and BREATHING - for one minute, two, 5 , 10 or 20 minutes even!
Can you find just 5 MINUTES EVERY SINGLE DAY just for you? It can be as simple as when you get home from the grocery store or a long day at work - just sit there in the car alone for 5 minutes and breathe. After you get ready for the day, instead of rushing out the door, sit down for 5 minutes and breathe. Think NOTHING - When thoughts come in - acknowledge them and then dismiss them. This is your time - not that busy mind of yours.
Meditation has a number of very important benefits, both for our minds and our bodies.
With all these important benefits, you would think that everyone would meditate every day.
I hear over and over though, "I just don't have enough time!" Everyone is so busy making a living and surviving there is just nothing left over to give to themselves. It crazy to think that we can GIVE and GIVE and GIVE all day and never fill up our fuel tanks.
Here is a one-minute meditation. It is EASY and you can USE IT ANYWHERE and IT WORKS!
Ready? Close your eyes and breathe through your nose, in and out, in and out in and out. Feel your diaphragm expand. In and out. Can you do this three times in a row? That's it!
When you engage your diaphragm you are putting air much deeper into your lungs. This causes more oxygen to be delivered to your bloodstream and your organs. The amazing result is simple and essential-real relaxation.
All you need to do to engage in a successful one-minute meditation is to close your eyes, let your thoughts drift away, and take three slow, deliberate and deep breaths through your nose. Focus on your breathing as you inhale and exhale each breath, and note how much better you feel after having done so. Can you do this every day, once a day for a few minutes? Sure you can! You simply must do it, not only for yourself and your happiness, but for others and the happiness you offer them!
Congratulations on your Meditation Success!
NOTE: A good place to start is to click on the above SPA LINK and just sit through the whole thing while breathing. It is only 4 minutes. Focus on the top part of your head and breathe, in and out, in and out. When thoughts slip in, accept them and then dismiss them. SHHHHH.... Try it everyday and withing 30 days (or less) you will begin to see results from this new found energy you have created.
