Applaud The Moment Experience A few weeks ago, I was at a stop light and looked in my review mirror. There was a woman who appeared to be in her 60's - Grandma -ish looking. I noticed her body language - it was wild moving, side to side and her mouth appeared to be YAPPING - almost yelling. I always cringe when I see someone yelling. I took another look to see - out of curiosity I suppose, just what was going on. Then I noticed 'THE APPLAUDABLE MOMENT!'
This Grandma was not yelling at all. In fact she was singing and it appeared it was to tune of “I LOVE ROCK AND ROLL' on the radio. She continued to sit at the light and boogie to the music while having a ball. Then the best part - she was laughing with the woman who was in the passenger seat as well as inspiring the full van of children in the back seat to sing along.
My daughter, age 14 and I laughed, thrilled for the fun in that the family in that van behind us was having on that sunny afternoon.
Then I did my part. I put my applauding hands up to my review mirror and applauded her vigorously. This particular “hand clapping” moment for me came from me relief of the lack of yelling (really hate yelling) and for the pure joy that this family was having at a 'nothing really special' moment in time. I applaud this Grandma for making my day and this moment very special for many people!
Side note: When the light turned green, Grandma pulled up next to me and her face expressed sincere appreciation. She beeped her horn at us a with “thumbs up” and was on her way!
You see, I am a bit of a WILD ONE also on occasion therefore applauding out loud is easy for me. |  What is the APPLAUD THE MOMENT project? APPLAUD THE MOMENT is a project that was developed by an Executive Leadership Team* of The Local Applause Network based in Jacksonville, Florida. The design and execution of this project has one purpose and that is to break the silence of the moments in time that we all seeing happening all around us everyday - and often sadly without an expression of our gratitude.
In addition The Local Applause Network is launching a series of events that will inspire others to stop, recognize and show appreciation for another person or group of people who have had a spectacular moment; the guts to sing in public, the youthfulness to jump off a diving board at age 60 or the ability to turn a sour experience into something positive - and on and on as the ideas are limitless. The Goal of the APPLAUD THE MOMENT Project is to create a ripple effect around the world of noisy clapping at unexpected times!
What is an applaudable moment?
A particular time to show expression of approval, welcome, enjoyment, or appreciation by the clapping of hands. What is there TO DO? TWO THINGS:
1) APPLAUD IT FORWARD! The Local Applause Network is launching a series of events that will inspire others to stop, recognize and show appreciation for another person or group of people who has had a spectacular moment; the guts to sing in public, the youthfulness to jump off a diving board at age 60 or the ability to turn a sour experience into something positive - and on and on as the ideas are limitless.
There are 5000 cards being printed for launching of this project. It is the PAY IT FORWARD concept and we need your help to, you guessed it - APPLAUD IT FORWARD! Call 904-471-2585 to get a small stack of cards so YOU can begin to break the silence and bring about a much needed simple gesture of of appreciation for all the wonderful success in the world.
2) Request for like-minded Sponsors.
Part of the Executive Leadership Teams Project is to appear at one of the local charities in town (currently there are two named) where a APPLAUSE CEREMONY will offer the participants to enjoy us giving them a round of applause, receiving an award, and having some fun with toy hand clappers. This will give everyone an opportunity to share something they feel makes them worthy of applause. 12 Incredible Sponsors to kick off this incredible community project!
